  Salmo is a laid-back village at the junction of two main highways just down the road from Nelson B.C.  There are some unique features that set this town apart from other Kootenay towns. We are located in a awesome outdoor playground. Nelson, Trail & Castlegar are all 40km away. Whitewater Ski Resort is approx 30 minutes, Apex Cross Country Ski Area 15 min, Salmo Ski Hill, practically out the front  door, the ski hill offers outstanding mountain biking during the summer & BMX Track. Kootenay Pass is very close for the adventurous Backcountry Skiers. 

Stroll the downtown and check out the stone murals, which rely solely on the stones’ natural colours, varying from silver to red, to intricately portray scenes from the time when the area was first settled.
